Fossil Marble/ Limestone from Devonian deposits in Morocco, with small prehistoric Crustacea 'fossilized' in the limestone marble, the most common colours are 'Browns-reds and mustards, 'Jet Black' is also very common, but one of my favoured colours is 'Grey', which is less common to find, especially a large source.
This is a Brown Devonian Marble, which has been craved, cut and expertly polished to form this extraordinary 'Fossil Tableware Plate'.
Pre thought, the limestone was carved specifically so that the Fossil inclusions was centred.
Beautiful Orthoceras specimen; very much like the squids living today, with a long external hard shell, which has no been fossilized; with the internal chamber and tissues replaced over millions of years with Calcite Mineral, or Quartz.
