High iridescent Madagascan Ammonites of the Cleoniceras genus.
These Ammonites display a superb range of colours, this is a consequence of light passing through the various layers of aragonite and conchiolin [shell layers], grown by the Ammonite in life, also due to the lack of acid in the layer deposits and environment, which aided the preservation of the fossil shell you see here.
Good sized specimens are hard to come by, and our treasured pieces in Ammonite collections.
